Jun 03, 2023HART 20V Cordless Impact Driver Review
You may have already seen us feature the HART 20V Cordless Impact Driver before, but today we’re taking a look at HART's second-generation brushless model. We already know from past experience that these are solid tools for new homeowners based on price and availability, but we want to know how this latest model compares to others on the DIY market.
The HART HPID26 utilizes a brushless motor to deliver more power and faster speeds compared to its brushed counterparts. It produces up to 3,000 RPMs and has an impact rate of 3,900 IPM, 100 more than before. This extra boost in impact rate should help speed things up a little when driving larger fasteners.
The HART Gen 2 impact driver is fairly similar to the previous model but there are a few changes. It still has a soft textured rubber overmold on the grip to help you maintain a firm hold while working. Additionally, the weight of the head is perfectly offset by the battery which makes it easy to control.
Here's where things differ. The HART Tools HPID26 is 1/4-inch shorter and also ships with a 2.0Ah battery rather than a 1.5Ah so you should expect a little more runtime, overall. While the drop in overall length seems negligible, this tool is more compact and will ultimately allow you to access tighter spaces than you could before.
HART also designed this impact driver with a 1/4-inch hex quick-collet for one-handed bit insertion and ejection, letting you swap out bits on the fly.
This HART 20V brushless impact driver retails for $94 as a bare tool and $128 as a kit that includes a single 2.0Ah battery, charger, and a soft carrying case. HART covers the tool and battery with a 3-year limited warranty.
The HART Cordless Impact Driver rides a solid line between performance, design, and price that checks off some important boxes for our crew. It sits at a price point that is affordable for most folks while also performing at a light to medium-duty capacity. There will certainly be trade-offs between this and a premium model, but if overall value is high on your list of priorities, then the HART HPID26 impact driver is hard to pass up.
