Black Friday is two weeks away, but shopping season is already here.

Gear-obsessed editors choose every product we review. We may earn commission if you buy from a link. Why Trust Us?

Black Friday is just a few weeks away, and retailers everywhere are already whetting our appetites for shopping, with great deals on tools to get everyone shopping early. Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift or filling in gaps in your own toolkit, brands like DeWalt, Ryobi, Craftsman, Milwaukee and Gearwrench have started slashing prices. You can already save as much as 50 percent on workshop essentials, including cordless tools, ladders, shop vacs, and a variety of hand tools.

If you aren’t ready to start your holiday shopping just yet, don’t worry: We’ll be updating this roundup as retailers and brands announce new sales throughout the holiday season, so check back with us when you’re looking for the best tool deals of the 2024 holiday season.

Deals are everywhere during the holiday season. With every retailer claiming to offer unprecedented prices on Black Friday, finding the best deals–whether you’re looking for tools, TVs, or a new Carhartt jacket–can be a bit of a challenge. Fortunately, there are price tracking tools that can help you find the specific items you want, and pay less for them.

Shopping on Amazon and have your eye on a few items you hope will go on sale? Try CamelCamelCamel’s The Camelizer browser extension, which can track prices and alert you if and when the thing you’re looking for drops below a certain price. It also tracks prices over time, so you can see if a retailer has tried to game Amazon to fake a big price drop, or is actually offering a best-ever deal.

Since Black Friday forces you to watch prices across several different browsers, I’d also suggest using Honey, which lets you track prices across retailers. (It also looks for coupon codes for whatever you put in your cart.) Using these tools can save you time and energy, and let you press “buy” without worrying that there’s another, cheaper option out there.

While you’ll find all manner of tools at discount prices on Black Friday, some types of tools and tool brands are more ubiquitous than others. DeWalt and Milwaukee, two of the top tool brands in the business, love to lean into sales events, and you can always find a good price on a cordless drill from one of these brands.

Right now, both brands are offering incredible savings on combo packs with multiple cordless tools, which is perfect for new DIY-ers looking to expand their collection. That said, if you cast a wide net, chances are you will find a good discount on any kind of tool you need–we’ve already highlighted deals on everything from mechanic’s tool sets to ladders and air compressors.

Milwaukee power tools are among the most sought-after by serious DIYers, so getting a nine-piece set for half-off is a huge find if you’re looking to upgrade. You get workshop staples, including a cordless drill, impact driver, reciprocating saw, and circular saw, plus some secondary nice-to-have pieces like a cordless driver, multi-tool, impact wrench and blower. It also comes with two high-capacity 5.0Ah batteries, a quick charger, and a large canvas duffle bag to lug it all around.

If you need a new drill and/or impact driver, then this bundle from DeWalt has you covered. The brushless drill in this kit turns at up to 1,650 RPM, and the impact driver produces up to 1,700 inch-pounds of torque, which is enough to drive in large fasteners. While they don’t match the power of DeWalt’s XR pro line, these are more compact and should have more than enough power to handle most jobs and DIY projects.

This Ryobi six-tool set is the quickest, more affordable way to furnish a home workshop from scratch. You get all the cordless power tools you need most, including a drill, impact driver, reciprocating saw and circular saw. These are solid, but basic. They’re more than capable for routine tasks, though, and you'll have difficulty spending less than this on your core tools.

Home mechanics should jump at the chance to get a mid-torque impact wrench from Milwaukee. It produces a whopping 650 foot-pounds of torque, enough to take off large lugnuts or bust loose rusted bolts, yet it weighs only 5 pounds. It features four modes that automatically adjust the torque and speed to prevent spinning off nuts and over-tightening. Plus there’s a built-in LED ring light that illuminates dark spaces, which is perfect for when you’re underneath your car.

A miter saw is a workshop workhorse, allowing you to crank through projects that require a lot of cross cuts faster and with more precision than is possible with a circular saw. If you haven’t added one to your collection, take a look at this DeWalt miter saw/stand combo.

Not only do you get a top-brand 12-inch miter saw capable of cutting through a 2x8 piece of lumber, but you have an easy and secure stand to complete the task without taking up other space at your work station. The saw easily detaches from the stand, which folds up for easy storage and/or transport.

Whether you’re an avid home carpenter or simply planning a trim project, this Ryobi cordless brad nailer is a solid deal. It fires 18-gauge brad nails, ranging from 5/8 to 2 inches in length. It’s exactly what you need if you’re securing molding or trim to walls, or building shelves at home. It has a smaller nose, which helps you find an angle in tight corners.

Craftsman makes affordable, high-quality hand tools, and its 230-piece mechanics tool set is a trustworthy choice. With the current deal, this budget-conscious set gets even more affordable. It comes with three ratchet sizes, a curated selection of both SAE and metric deep- and standard-depth sockets, and a set of bit sockets. There are also box wrenches, a bit driver with assorted bits, and a full set of hex wrenches. Everything comes organized in a three-drawer portable case.

This 22 ounce Spec Ops framing hammer has lots of little details that make it feel like an upgrade. It's also lightweight, and comes with a shock absorbing grip that keeps your arm from wearing out during longer jobs. It has a milled face that grips nailheads better for better accuracy. There’s a magnetic nail starter, too, so you can keep your fingers out of harm's way.

This pro-grade, 232-piece mechanics socket set from Gearwrench is available for a DIY-friendly price right now. You get a full set of ratcheting box wrenches, plus 90-tooth count 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch ratchets that have a small swing arc, which makes them easy to use in tight spaces. The kit also comes with a full contingent of SAE and metric sockets with extenders and adapters, bit sockets, bit driver and bits, and hex wrenches. As with other sets, everything fits into a durable molded three-drawer toolbox.

You never know when you’re going to need a dependable step ladder. This ladder, from Werner, stands out for its high weight limit of up to 250 pounds. Made from fiberglass, it won’t rust or conduct electricity, making it a safe option for working around electrical lines. It’s also compatible with the Werner lock-in system, which allows you to attach compatible tool bags and buckets to the top.

No workshop is complete without a good wet/dry vacuum to handle post-project cleanup. If you’ve been waiting for a good deal on one, now’s the time. This 16-gallon Ridgid vac is half-off and covers all the bases. It features a 5 horsepower motor, ample power and capacity for cleaning up larger messes. It also comes with a 7-foot hose, two extension wands and a nozzle, so you can reach the corners and nooks around your workshop easily.

A pancake air compressor is a necessary companion for powering your pneumatic tools, whether it’s a nailer, an impact wrench, or a paint sprayer. Luckily, you can get this 6 gallon Craftsman model for a steal. It can reach a max 150 PSI, making it powerful enough for most pneumatic tools you’ll need for projects around the house. Plus, it only weighs about 30 pounds, so you shouldn't have a problem toting it around.
