We’re less than a week away from Amazon’s October Prime Days; you know what that means. Pre-Prime Day sales from companies trying to jump the gun and beat the rush. My first thought was to look for tools—and I found some. Most of these deals are perfect for beginners just getting a start on building out a tool collection but there are also a few pieces that just about any of us would like to add to their collection.

There are a couple of basic mechanic’s tool sets that are perfect starting points if you don’t have the basics. The GEARWRENCH 232 Piece Mechanics Tool Set in 3 Drawer Storage Box for $250.78 gets you a pretty complete socket set, some ratcheting combination wrenches, and even some allen wrenches. It all comes in a plastic toolbox, ideal for taking it with you or storing in a closet if you don’t have a garage. This smaller set, the CRAFTSMAN Mechanic Tool Set, 104 Pieces for $79.99 includes the same 3-drawer toolbox I started with, way back in the 1900s.
