Will Rogers is set to represent the Mississippi State football program as he heads to Louisiana for the prestigious Manning Passing Academy.
The Mississippi State football program will be well represented during the upcoming 2023 Manning Passing Academy. A total of 45 quarterbacks have the opportunity to head down to Louisiana for the prestigious camp and MSU's very own Will Rogers is reportedly among that group.
The camp, which is held at Nicholls State University (located in Thibodaux, Louisiana), is set for June 22 through 25. And the SEC record holder for completions in a career is set to be one of the counselors helping the camp operate this year.
That's not a bad gig for Rogers to have.
Aside from the fact that the Bulldogs’ quarterback gets the chance to represent his school and assist in the development of future college quarterbacks, this is such a cool opportunity for Rogers in that it's (at least to a degree) an acknowledgment of his talent and accomplishments.
According to nola.com's report on the camp, here are several other SEC quarterbacks who will also be present at the camp, including the following:
And then, of course, Rogers.
Rogers is fresh off of a season in which he threw for 3,974 yards and 35 touchdowns against just eight interceptions all while completing 68 percent of his passes. In his career, Rogers has 10,689 passing yards, 82 touchdowns, and 24 picks to go with a career completion percentage of 70.7 percent.
He's accomplished quite a bit while operating Mike Leach's Air Raid with remarkable precision.
Rogers will be driving a new offense this season that is closer to a conventional spread offense. While some of the passing concepts may appear to be similar, there will be changes to how the offense runs. It’ll be fascinating to see how one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the SEC performs as he picks up what Kevin Barbay has brought to Starkville.
