Nov 03, 2024Nov 03, 2024

College of DuPage Arts students now have new ways to bring their ideas to life in COD’s Digital Fabrication Studio.

The multipurpose, creative space gives students access to hand tools, a number of different 3-D printers and a laser cutter, as well as space to collaborate and discuss projects.

View a video exploring the new studio on the College of DuPage YouTube channel.

Equipped with a CNC milling machine with a computer workstation, the studio allows students to create their own designs onto plywood.

The space’s wood shop features a wide array of tools, such as a spindle sander, a belt sander and grinder, a wood planer, a panel saw, a scroll saw, a small band saw, a large band saw, a drill press and a table saw equipped with a saw stop to help students create furniture, fine art and decorative art.

The fabrication spaces and instruction room are connected to allow students to move freely as needed.

Meanwhile, tables in the instructional space give students ample space to work and brainstorm ideas or install works to solicit peer and instructor feedback.
